Donors must be of age 18 or above. He/She should weigh at least 45 kgs and be in good health. Additional eligibility criteria also apply.

For whole blood donation,
For male: 3 months / 90 days
For female: 4 months / 120 days

For SDP, 48 hours / 2 days between donations (not more than 2 times in a week and limited to 24 times in a year).

The eligibility criteria to accept the donor is more than or equal to 12.5 gm/dl. Less than this is not acceptable to donate blood.

A person can donate blood if his/her diabetes is under control by oral medications. A person taking insulin is deferred permanently.

Yes, he/she can but after 3 days of last medication.

A person with thyroid disorder on medication is permanently deferred.

Yes, he/she can after 1 year of major surgery (General Anaesthesia given) and 6 months after minor surgery (Local Anaesthesia given).

The donor should have a meal at least 4 hours prior to donation.

A person has to wait for 12 months after getting a tattoo to donate blood.

She can donate blood after the completion of lactation period.

She can donate the blood after completion of menstruation period.
